Our Arrival in Panama City
GH and I had a comfortable trip on American Airlines out of Dallas. Onboard, we met some folks who had owned a condo at the beach for a number of years and had almost decided to retire there. They spent several weeks a year in Panama, but I think it was always during the dry season. (What do you do at the beach during the wet season?)
We arrived in Panama around nine o’clock at night went through immigration. At the immigration counter, a woman handed us a little card tacked to a piece of cardboard that explained that it was free travelers health insurance for up to 30 days here in Panama. What a fantastic welcome and can you imagine the US offering such a thing to its tourists?
We retrieved our bags and went through customs. Curiously, they made us put our luggage through a scanner on the way out of the airport. I’d love some input from experienced travelers as to the logic of this.
We were then met by a gentleman who took us and another couple by shuttle to our B&B called La Estancia and located in the hills up above Panama City. It’s a very quiet, unprepossessing little B&B but the people who run it are very friendly and helpful. And it has free WiFi and just looks like a clean, quiet, calm place to enjoy a few nights in Panama City.

Congrats on the new blog, Marta! You’re already making me want to go to Panama.
